That. I love my current Sigma 85 f/1.4. I got it for around $600. It is awesome. I cannot imagine the new ART version to be so much better that it would justify double the price. Oh, I still want it, by the way, but not "$1200 want" it.

The current sigma is not half the price. Don't forget the retail for current 85 is 979. You got yours used for 600? So did I. I also sold mine for 550.

They did a massive overhaul and upped the price $220. I think the pricing is fair and give it a year or two and the used arts will be in the 800 range. By then the current 85 will drop to mid 300s.

after watching the sigma 85 on Matt granger's channel, no thanks, it's ridiculously massive, cant see myself using that big thing casually. If it were 115 f1.4, then I might be persuaded, but it's not. More than double maybe triple the size of an 85 f1.8.

No way... thats only 3oz heavier than the 50A and this thing is much much bigger

I'm going to predict 1125 grams.

the lens looks to have 50% more volume than the 50 art (which is a massive lens in it's own right), 86mm front filter is just ridiculous.

Indeed.

Well I'm just waiting on weight specs now. If it's at or under 1100g then I'll stick to the purchase... if it's heavier then I will cancel my preorder.

Don't forget...

Sigma has made references as to being on the same level of performance as the OTUS line before. Considering the size specs match the 85 OTUS and they are advertising "performance no compromise" This tells me they are shooting for max quality for this lens.

They've got runs on the board with the near-Otus 50Art too so I wouldn't be surprised if the 85A got close

I think I'll need to keep the 50A just for when I want to travel light lol

Don't forget guys the 851.2 is 36oz and the Otus is a whooping 45oz with hood or 42.5 without.

No longer the 27oz the Non art is now.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Nah. But the sigma 85 is still my most used lens ever so I recognize that. In 5 years of me doing photography I only owned that 85 for 2 and it's still king by a factor of 2...

I'll either rebuy the old get the art or get the 1.2. Either way visa loves me lol
