Nah. But the sigma 85 is still my most used lens ever so I recognize that. In 5 years of me doing photography I only owned that 85 for 2 and it's still king by a factor of 2...

I'll either rebuy the old get the art or get the 1.2. Either way visa loves me lol

I thought you were considering the Tamron now?

Matt Granger at Photokina, his estimated weight is 900 grams...

Holy Crap Bokehlicious. I can't wait for Kai from Digital rev to review the 85A. Maybe I need to reconsider trading in my 85/1.8 for that

Matt does the 12-24:

He says this is 1.2 Kg. The 85 art has to be heavier just looking at it but what do I know.

I wonder if Sigma take weight into consideration at all when designing their lenses.

The 12-24 looks tempting as long as it can take filters!

Seems if I do get rid of my 17-40, the 16-35 is my only option!

Lee filter or equal. Filters are available for the 15-30... just big square ones not screw on.

Honestly out of all the zooms the 16-35 F4 IS performs the best. I have both it and the 15-30 and the 15-30 is no joke... solid performer but the Canon has a smidge... and we are talking smidge better microcontrast. You really really really have to pixel peep though and then its tough sometimes. Actually depending on the ISO the Tamron comes out ahead sometimes too at 2.8.

I've looked at the 15-30 and didn't realise it can take filters so my give that another look. It will be interesting to see how the new 16-35mm f2.8 III stacks up against the f4 IS.

Hmmm... will wait for more tests/reviews of real life shots, but the bokeh is still not as smooth as the canon 1.2. The images do look sharper & more contrast... interesting!

Sorry you just cannot compare the two without side by sides. The 85 non art is an excellent performer and was hardly noticeable until you put them side by side.

If they somehow managed to make a lens that big but the same weight as the 85mm classic, then I wouldn't mind it. If it is more than 1100g I wonder if wedding shooters will really want to be carrying that around for 5+ hours.

Personally I really don't see myself getting rid of the old 85 classic. I'm more than happy with it and personally see more reasons not to switch than there is to switch.
