Family shoot

Did a family shoot with one of my co-workers. Wanted to try my new 5d3 and the wife was out of town, so I offered them my services. I know the last one is warmer than the rest, but I kind of like it like this. What do you think

In those scenes where the person is looking askance it is usually best to get whites on both sides of the iris, which would require you to direct them to turn their heads, or for you to change the camera angle.
Otherwise, these are nice for the family album. I like the warmer look of the last one as well.

In the last photo if the woman's face was positioned a little more towards the camera it would look more natural as OBX said in his post.

In the third one you might try to get at eye level so the child is not looking up.

I was looking for that shot on the third one, with the kid looking up.

I will keep in mind the turn of the heads on the next shoots. Always learning from past experiences/mistakes. That's why I love this forum

Well, I’ve decided that I’m not shooting people eating any more - almost never turn out to be good portraits - they often feel like snapshots - but that’s just me. So 3 of them are out for me
