I, like many Canon shooters, have been waiting for this lens. I formerly owned the 85mm 1.2L and found its autofocus and optical flaws to get in the way a little too much...well, more often than one would like with a $1800+ lens. So I sold it and kept my 85mm 1.8 I've had since 2004ish. LOL The lenses are in different leagues, but I couldn't justify spending that kind of coin at the time on a lens I wasn't satisfied with.

I'm an 50mm Art lens owner and I love it. I immediately wanted Sigma to make an 85mm, but I had to wait...and wait...and wait some more. LOL The day it was available for preorder I had it added to my cart and I was ready to get this show on the road. Now I sit back and wait for mine to ship. Haha

This lens make me more excited than Canon 5D Mark IV. I can't wait to try this. Too bad I won't be able to use it with the two weddings coming up. Just family session after that

If the new dates pan out I'll be in NYC and won't be able to receive the lens.

The 85 is my most favored lens. Can't wait to shoot it again. My trinity will now be 35A/85A/200F2

Yup. Good stuff.

Sigma gave us the update in instagram. First shipment is next week. Their press release said November. I guess dealers had the wrong info. Yay!

I'll be so glad to get this lens and post some real life tests and samples (no fence posts)! I have a couple portrait shoots coming up and some nights on the town planned. Yay!!

It wasn't the dealers... it was in their press release for late october: https://www.dpreview.com …to-its-global-vision-line (external link)

I'm not on instagram nor do I care to start some stupid argument but they need to zip it and honor their delayed delivery... No dealers were at fault here. They were.

Yeah I thought I saw every press release said late October. Hopefully I'll get mine soon and if the performance meet my expectations, all is forgiven =)

Here are some more images. Much better than other samples. http://www.lenstip.com …_HSM_-_sample_images.html (external link) I tried the 85 1.2 Canon and that lens is so unforgiving at 85 1.4

1. Never fan of 1/125 on the 85... I always prefer 1/160...
2. A few of those 1.4 shots looked a smidge front focused
3. These are also JPG sooc set to low sharpening:

All images are JPEG files stright from the camera with sharepening set to the lowest value

I have to wait for my copy... I need raw... I need my test subjects... I need real world use :) Otherwise it's the best photos thus far.
