Digital Camera Speed Challenge #434: Groove the Move

I was originally going to ask for panning shots but I realized what I really wanted to see was motion (which could be panning...). I wanted to see what everyone came up when they thought of capturing motion and what techniques they used.

So show me how you "Groove the Move"

The challenge begins when posted, and will end at 6PM Pacific time, Monday October 10, 2016

The winner will be announced shortly thereafter.

CHALLENGE RULES:

1. Camera: Any DIGITAL CAMERA is allowed, (not just DSLR)
2. Time: Any on-topic photo taken at any time is eligible, although photos that have won other competitions should NOT be entered.
3. Size: See standard P.O.T.N. Image Posting Rules.
4. Post Processing: Do whatever you like and the host will decide if it works.
5. Posting: ONE PHOTO per photographer in each challenge.
6. Details: Show camera model & lens used. Post brief EXIF data including ISO, shutter speed and aperture used.
7. Commenting: Please, NO COMMENTING DURING CHALLENGE but feel free to make comments in this thread after a winner has been declared.
8. Content: Keep it clean, and both Family and Work safe.

I didn't enter, image quality isn't that great, but I still feel it really captures motion.

Great images everyone, I’m impressed.

M_Six: great colour and motion, I love the stillness of the mother and child (and the attendant) juxtaposed with the motion

airfrogusmc: great street scene, as usual, like M_Six, great use of stillness and motion

teekay: a great frozen moment in time, I want to see what happens next. Does he stick the landing or is it an epic fail?

OldCrow: another great capture where the viewer wants to see if the horse makes it over or clips the bar

T3 Heavy Shop: you’re right, the not the best focus…but what a great expression on the young rider’s face!

I think that, technically, all four shots that entered are spot on, so, just from my own personal taste:

airfrog's entry was definitely top - a fine example of meaningful street photography. I don't do much street stuff, so have routinely used a fast shutter speed to freeze action when shooting while walking, but the choice of a slow shutter speed and f/16 in this example is a lesson in how good planning can give an outstanding result.

Thanks for the 2nd place nod, darkslinger. I agree that airfrogusmc's image is stellar and deserves the win. I thought teekay's and Don's shots were also excellent.
