Lately I've been experimenting with more fantasy type edits for family sessions. I'm primarily a wedding and event photographer who does limited family sessions, but I like the fantasy edits and would like some inspiration. I'm by no means an expert at these types of shoots or the editing that goes into them, but I'm hoping to get better. I'll start off with two:

Nice job with the baby shot. Looks more natural and believable. The effect on the first picture is pretty rough around the edges. Keep practicing though!

I really like the second one. Very nice! The foreground blur on the first is distracting, looks like there's already a nice bokeh?

Anyways I would like to see more photos like this!

This first one is almost there for me. I think the sun rays are a little to green and there is a little bit of "fake" feeling to the overall edit. You just have to keep working at it.

The baby shot is a little more believable; however, I think her face is underexposed too much for my taste.

Thanks for everyone's comments so far. I'm just starting to learn these type of edits and really enjoying it so far. The goal isn't necessarily to go for "believable" but it's not to have the images look poorly crafted either. I appreciate the input. Here is one I did tonight in the spirit of fall. A little less fantasy than the others, but still up the same alley.

With that last one, to my eyes the top of the image is too bright and the bottom is too dark. Rather than trying to brighten the subject with a brush (you can see halo's around the guy's legs) do the opposite;

In LR: Paint over the whole image with a -0.5 exposure brush, then use the remove button and a fully soft brush about as wide as the two people and remove it roughly over them.

That will create a more natural pop to the image subject without the harsh exposure halo's that you get from smaller brushes.
