Nice! We have a few Roks in various mounts. This looks like a must have for Milky Way attempts with the
M5. Thanks for posting up images of the lens...very nice looking glass.
Forgot, can you post a pic with the hood on, it did come with a hood right?

Yes, it came with a hood, but its at home, literally 2000 miles away right now. Maybe when I get back, I'll remember to attach it for a photo. I bought this lens specifically for astrophotography, but haven't had much time to play with it. Attaching one of my early attempts with this lens and an M3. The brown clouds are fast moving formations of dust...

Wow, Orion looks great!
Well astro or not you've shown it is a fantastic wide angle with an effective 18mm...not shabby at all and looking this astro I'd say
plenty sharp like most Roks.

Glad you like, I've been quite pleased with it. Had some really good reviews, dustin abbott I think. I have been tempted to get the 50mm 1.2 rok...maybe next year.

You are a bad bad influence.
Just ebay'd the Rok 12/2 and just read D.Abbot's review.
What's not to love. He referred to the Rok 14/2.8 several times as the 'big brother', that lens is very familiar to me.
So looking forward to it.

Slowly over time Rose.
I'm just aging. 1DXii is a heavy beast, Sony a99ii is lighter as an example.
Not that I want to mind you, just hard reality.
But not tomorrow, not yet ;)
I've backpacked over 4000 miles over the last 3.5 decades. I'm used to being able to move, carry
a load. Kinda hurts mentally and emotionally loosing my physical abilities. Not there yet, but best
to plan out another scheme.
Thus the further/continued interest in mFT, and I have to say the Oly M1 mk ii is incredible...just have to
get closer to the critters.

Yes I understand about the weight issue as I am ageing also. I only have the 70D and M5, and had become resentful of always carrying the camera when I walked, but not always taking a shot, and then feeling annoyed. Especially as I often had the Sigma 18 - 35 f/1.8 attached. A great combo but quite heavy if you end up not taking any shots ..... I found I stopped taking the camera. Getting the M5 has reignited my enthusiasm!

Perhaps I need to look at something as back up , as can see myself selling the 70D, something I never imagined I'd even consider, but haven't used it since getting the M5!

That Rose is testament to the joy of mirrorless. Though still in my world is the need for DSLR....again until I just can't take the weight anymore...BUT the latest Sony and the newest Olympus
have changed everything for BIF. The Olympus is the first mirrorless fully capable of AF-tracking and at 18fps AND has the long glass BIF'ing requires. The Sony is DSLR-like, not DSLR and not
mirrorless but a creature lying between the two. Sony almost has the long glass, well truthfully they do but their 500mm is $13k and that's U.S. dollars :(
I've found their 70400Gii zoom adequate for 95% of the BIF'ing I do, so I'll just make do :) What sets it apart from any other camera is the A7Rii's 42mp sensor and the ability to grab
60 raw files before the buffer fills and you can push a button for crop mode and shoot 250 raw at 18mp at an even better noise profile, as if the A7rii's sensor was not incredible to begin
with.

Now back to the M5. Several reports of successful BIF'ing with it. I'll hopefully find out end of March when we return to the land of BIF=Florida. We're driving this time so I'll get to take quite an array of kit to play with. I've been in the mirrorless world since the NEX-5, still have it and an a6000 and a6300 and now finally Canon is in the game. What took them so long! I guess it was many people like me adapting Canon lenses (Metabones) to Sony bodies and suddenly a Canon exec noticed they were bleeding sales.

I think by the time I can't tote the Canon heavies the M6 or M7 will be as capable as the Olympus, then I can have my cake and eat it too!!

You know the more of us who get old an protest the heavies the quicker Canon will up even the game with the Mx series, one positive to go along with the discount they give us seniors
in various restaurants :)

It was't so much the weight but rather the bulk of a FF DSLR that was causing me to leave it behind. I've switched to small mirrorless crop camera and have no problem taking it anywhere. It's just so easy to bring along. I've been taking it out on the ski hill. I'll grab a few shots here but still ski all day without it being any issue at all! I'm loving the new set up!

Nice shots! You'll find the M5 + 22mm f2 are the perfect carry around combo.

how can that be? recently I bought the M5 and a 18-150mm!

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:
