Wow, that's far sharper than I'd expect with that combo...very nice!

If I take enough pictures, at least one of them should turn out...maybe

Compared to a 5Dxx series it is kinda dainty/plastic build.
I'd not want it to fall from a 3 foot table to the floor, but if I saw that happen
to a 1DXii I'd also cringe.
It's squeezy in places too, the hand grip/where your fingers wrap around-I can feel a bit of give
there when I squeeze.
So does this matter? Some plastics take hard hits and simply flex back and all is good.
I hope to never found out with a hard fall.

The hand grip is definitely the squeezy bit.

I suspect it'll be just fine, but it is disappointing they didn't design it better.

Unfortunately there's a bit of dust behind the glass on my LCD screen. Normally I'd probable exchange for something like that but I'm not sure how much of a pain that will be with CPW purchases, the touch functionality seems to be alright based on my first few tries.

Fantastic shot Robert!

There's a place near Rotorua, about three hors drive from me, which apparently rescues hawks etc and is open to the public (for a price), so I'm going there in a couple of weeks to try get some shots ..... here's hoping.

Fingers crossed for you and the hawk rose.
We now have one on the nest so the male will frequent now for the easy food. Remember I cleared my feeding activities with the local head of ornithology at the university in town and with the state authorities that govern wildlife.

Went to a Memorial Service today for a work colleague, who died very suddenly on Monday. It was at Napier Botanical Gardens, s rather lovely little place. A friend and I went back with our cameras later, my friend has just bought her first serious camera and wanting to learn.

Very big crop on this ...

And this, not because of any particular ability or artistic wonderment .... a pouting pigeon :-) but it made me laugh.

Jared Polin's real world review. Was pretty interesting to watch since he shot a skateboarder which is obviously action and the M5 looked like it did really well. I never shoot action so have never tested anything like that.

Interesting review and I learned a few things ... need to read the manual and play a bit I guess.

Anyone successfully used M5 as commender with external flash?

I've been wanting to use the M5 as commander with an external, off camera flash. According to the manual it should work with Canon EX and up speedlights, but no joy for me. I am trying with a Canon 430 EX set to Slave Mode on Channel 1, Slave A. When I go to M5 Flash Control, External flash func. setting, I get the dreaded error message:

"This menu cannot be displayed. Incompatible flash or flash's power turned off"

The speedlight is definitely turned ON, and set to slave. The M5 flash is popped up. Have tried in M, Av, Tv, and P shooting modes with same results.

I don't see any info that 430 EX doesn't work, but perhaps the 430 EX II or III is needed? Can anyone here try?

Thanks for any advice or assistance.

Looks like paradise Rose.
Reminds me- when I went to NZ I did a 48 hours overstop in Fiji, looked very similar and I'd expect the n.island of NZ (I only spent my time on the s.island) would be kinda tropical; but I never saw what I'd call tropical on the s.island.....of course it was snowing when I was there in places.
