I took my new M5 and 18-150 out for a cold mountain bike ride a week or so ago. I'm very pleased with the portability of this system compared to my 7D2 and 5D3 setups. It's great for adding to the pack to take home some good quality photos. Here's a short recap of the ride:
It was a cool day: 25 deg F air temperature, hours after several inches of new snow had fallen. The previous week was warm, so the snow melted off the dirt road, turning it into a mud pit. Undeterred, I pressed on, with my intended photo location about 6 miles up the canyon.
on SmugmugEarly on, the mud started building up on me and the bike. As it was exposed to cold, moving air it froze.

on SmugmugAfter shooting for a bit, I was getting cold, and decided to hustle down the canyon. This led to a significant mud and ice buildup on me and the bike. I really liked this picture of a 12" icicle which formed from muddy water splashes on my fork.
on SmugmugNo issues with the M5 and the cold. I'll be bringing the M5 on many more of my rides. It is a great portable camera for active adventures!
