To be honest, I'm not effected with size of camera one bit.

The M5 with canon adapter and 50mm, 40mm, and 85mm are still really compact and light..... i mostly use my m5 with the 50mm 1.8 and 85mm f1.8... i put my 70-200 on it and def. felt weird..... but with prim lenses, the M5 adapts pretty good.

IG, to me is kinda of the same... with the exception that Fuji is a tab bit sharper without the AA Filter. Both great cameras though. I like my M5, i liked the XT1.... nothing bad to say about any of them except what i mentioned above.

Thanks for the input. As you guys have said, these are just tools and it mainly comes down to your personal preferences and likes. Not wanting to go all out and blow a ton of coin on a whole new system when I can spend around 1k for the M5 if I wanted to go that route and generally be done (at least until the next newest "your pictures will beat anyone elses in the galaxy") camera and lenses come out! ;-)a

Then the GAS monster hits again and its off to the races.

Dtufino-good stuff man. Not sure about all the pouty looks the model was giving but you rocked it!

thanks again.

Was fighting to get a couple shots in a break in the weather just before sun down, could have been better with more light.

Does anyone know if it's been mentioned if the M5 has a weak AA filter? I feel like the images have a lot more detail SOOC compared to my 6D.

Ok, so if you can use your existing canon L lenses, what disadvantages/advantages are there to using the M Lenses, and what would you guys recommend? Looking for a travel lens for a Italy trip.

thanks

How did the shoot go? Do you already have a macro? I got the 100L which works quite nice on the M5.

Disadvantages would definitely be the aperture of a lot of the zooms. Depending on what you like to shoot, they could be limiting in low light. Most have pretty good if not excellent IQ and their prices are very good too. Size and weight are the main advantages of the EF-M lenses. I love the 35mm FOV so I could easily use my M5 and 22mm f2 combo and nothing else.

What David says^. Size and weight when travelling with the M5 is a huge plus. The 22mm F2 is a must. Going to Italy, you may want to take a zoom but an L lens may defeat the purpose. I use an EFS 55-250 STM with the EF-EOS M adapter and I find it's small and light enough, gives me some range and decent image.

I have the 22 f/2 and 15 -45 with variable aperture / 3.5 - 6.3 in the M range. The 22 stays on my camera for long periods, and I have used the 15 -45 a lot but it's no good in low light and I think IQ is better using EF and EF-S lenses with the adapter. I have quite a few lenses with fixed aperture of 1.8 or 2.8, and generally I prefer those. I'll often carry the M5 with 22 attached, Tamron 90 f2.8 with adapter, Canon 50 1.8 stm, and Tokina 11 -16 f2.8. Still lighter than the 70D and a couple of lenses.

I also have the Sigma 18 -35 f/1.8, but defeats the purpose a little bit of having the M5, but IQ is great.

Definitely recommend the 22 f2 but you might want something longer as well for detail of buildings etc if you're into that. I often take four or five shot panos if I only have that lens with me and want something wider.
