just got back from vacation having taken the 11-22 and 18-150 with me and must say although i was completely satisfied w/the size and weight of the setup, i just wasn't pleased with the results. This was a true testament for me that GLASS rules everything. LOL.. I say this simply because I LOVE THIS CAMERA with my L lenses but not wanting to lug the weight of them, i opted for the M Lenses made specifically for this body and well, I wish I had just carried the extra weight lol..

Hi all, I've been waiting a long time for the 6D mk2 for upgrade, but lately I've been thinking that maybe I want a smaller camera instead. Been looking a lot on the Canon M5 now, but also the Olympus M10 (mk2/3). I do have some good lenses for the EOS system and the EF-M -> EF adapter doesn't cost so much. However it looks like there's adapters for the MFT system as well.

So my question here is if anyone here has experience with both these cameras (EOS M5 and Olympus M10) and can give me some information on what you like and dislike when you compare the cameras? :) Thanks in advance!

C&C always welcome

I don't have experience with the Olympus but I do have the 6D2 and M5.

I would say I prefer the M5 for weight and size but most other things I prefer the 6D2. I didn't like the EVF initially but when I use nothing but the M5 I actually like it and don't feel like I miss the ovf.

If you are one of the people that likes to pull shadows a lot, the M5 actually has the advantage at ISO 100. The M5 also performs really well with lenses adapted.

Tbh if you were considering something small then I think a Fuji body would be a good place to start since they have a good native lens choice.

Couple of cat photos from our visit to the animal sanctuary. I can't say enough about how I love this little M5. The IQ is excellent and I don't feel like I'm compromising too much by leaving the heaver DSLR at home:

Went out for a walk with the M5 to try out some different things packed the 400mm F5.6 unpacked it then repacked it. Spotted a couple of hares and sneaked up. Got a nice series of him washing heres a couple. The M5 and the 400 is a nice light combo great for just wandering about.

Hey Joseph,
I suppose you are using Canon's adaptor, how does it perform for you? If not Canon's which one are you using?

SX10is, S90, d5100 (35mm1.8, 18-55mm, 55-200mm), d750 (28-300mm, 50mm 1.8, 35-70mm 2.8, 24-120mm f/4, 85mm 1.8G), EOS-M5 (EF-M 15-45mm, 18-150mm, EF 40mm 2.8)

yes - the Canon "mount adapter EF-EOS M" which seems to work just fine.
Realisticly it's just a piece of material to put the EF lenses at the right distance from the sensor.
I guess it's built well & works as advertised so no complaints - I haven't ever used the tripod mount as most of my longer lenses already have a tripod foot anyway.
If I were in the market for another one I'd get the Canon one over an aftermarket one purely from a view that Canon are likely to have a better designed & built unit, whereas other vendors the build quality is fairly unknown.
