It's the same here in Sydney Rose, we have had rain almost every week and it's been in the 20's almost every week so far. I love it though, much better than the summers back in Perth!

I prefer heat to cold ... but this summer is so weird. I planted a garden but pretty much everything bolted ... reflection of the extremely fluctuating temperatures and humidity

Some Modern art depicting a craw fish reveler drawn on a city electrical box, weathered and cropped a bit.
The second image is a nice ride if you don't go too high.

I pretty much only ever use Sandisk. I've never had any issues with genuine ones I bought (eBay aren't so genuine depending on the seller). When it comes to storage size, the highest I usually get is 16GB. Higher storage ones may seem more convenient, but if you lost data you're losing a lot less.

Once you do get one, make sure to format it in camera rather than through a computer.

Thanks - I don't like huge storage cards, and try to keep it down. Usually format in camera - didn't know about doing it in PC ..

I've got some credit on my Q card so hoping to use it to buy a spare card and laptop bag ...

Yeah I think the largest one I own is 32GB but I don't store photos on it. Yeah you can format it when it's attached to your laptop/PC, but memory cards are usually best being formatted in whatever device they will be used in.

Do you have JB Hifi and Officeworks in NZ? I buy mine from them since they are cheapest.

I think may have JB, but as I have some credit on my qcard will use Noel Leeming, as I see on their website that they have sandisk.

I almost always transfer my photos to either laptop or pc and reformat the card, after reading something a few years ago about extending life of cards. When I'm being "good" I also back up straight away to external hard drives :-)

Oh I don't think we have Noel Leeming here in Aus, never heard of it actually haha. I got my M5 from JB. They don't have the lowest prices but are very flexible with lowering them.

I do the same. I tend to format my card any time I shoot something new.

Do you Rose or anyone else here use a travel tripod with your M5?

Hardly use a tripod these days unless going for long exposures, which I haven't done for ages.

When I used the 70D for every day shooting I gradually upgraded my glass to faster, and got used to hand holding, after using a heavy Manfrotto for landscapes. I find the IS in the M5 to be such that I can mostly get what I want hand held. However I do still have in mind some LE stuff I want to do. I'd be interested in what tripods people use.

I have a little gorillapod which is very handy too

Noel Leeming are probably more expensive than most, but if you're limited by supplier then they're better than nothing...
I had to spend a gift voucher on the last valid day & got a Lexar from them. It's a microSD & adapter as it was all they had in stock.
(keep in my wallet for if/when I ever leave the memory at home!)

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

I have an old Gitzo G0012 mk2 (external link) that I use occasionally.
Bought it originally to handle a 20D, I have used it at a push with the 1d3 when on holiday etc. so it copes with the M5 pretty well.

shown with legs at shortest (is around 510mm high with legs & center column extended:
