I have been searching for 2 hours this morning & I'm confused; want to buy decent tranmitter/receiver that will fire canon 550ex off camera. I have been using the 550ex as a master on camera to fire other lights but it's time for a better way. I use Canon 5D & Canon 1DS Mark II. Please I need advice!

I would look at second hand triggers because the current trigger sets are not working with your somewhat dated equipment.

You could look at Pocket Wizard that supports a lot of equipment as long you stay away from 580EX II.

The YN622tx will control and fire a 550ex on a yn622 on either of those bodies.

I don't know why you thought it was tricky :)

Thank you - I was in overload this morning sifting through all the information. I know my equipment is dated - would rather put it into lens or lights!
