Hoping people can give me some ideas on the best way to mount my tripod on my daypack by posting pictures of their setups.

I normally carry a full size tripod, I've used the smaller hiking tripods before and they don't work for me. I always feel mounting it on the center of the back of the pack like most bags are designed to carry skis ends up having my tripod banging against the camera and lenses on the inside as I walk up the trail. Having it off the side never rides well, becomes a pain taking on and off without a lot of time getting it snugged super tight.

Are there any accessories that make mounting a tripod on a backpack (day or multi-day) easy? Would like to see how you guys have your packs set up for tripod transport.

thanks,

Heya,

I use a Lowepro Flipside 400 AW. It has a tripod foot pouch on the back, and straps to really strap it down so it doesn't swing around. It has padding on the back and only opens from the inside (where your back is), not the back of the pack where the tripod is, so it doesn't sit there and bang on your equipment. Very secure. I use a full size tripod back there.

Very best,

I have this bag among many others, and it's not comfy enough IMO. I like the side mount of the sport versions better because the closer to your body the tripod is, the better. I live not too far away from PV cliffs, and my type of hike would involve a little bit of climbing, so it's a bit dependent on location too. For the past few years, I go bare tripod on my back, and a belt system, just much more comfort and quick to access gear. The fastest AF in the world dont matter if I'm slowing down the crowd to get out my gear. I really hate taking off my backpack to get gear, just kills my momentum and flow.

thanks guys for posting those pics. I've seen that kneseis has a foot pouch but I'm wondering if it can last dealing with spiked feet and if there is an alternative connection d-ring as my pack doesn't have that style of webbing?

Thanks again for the examples
