I ordered a Dell XPS 13 laptop that hasn't shipped just yet. I still have my desktop as a primary source for photoshop+lightroom, but the laptop will be a bit more casual and travel/on-the-go

So I ordered it with:
- 7th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-7500U (4MB Cache, up to 3.5 GHz)
- 8GB LPDDR3 1866MHz
- 256GB PCIe Solid State Drive

Right now the laptop is $200 cheaper, or for the same price available in 16GB+512G RAM/Drive.

Which would you guys recommend would be the way to go at this point?

The key is where are your priorities? Right now you can get a Samsung 850 PRO - 512GB - 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD for $215. The spinning platter 512 GB drive would be aided quite a bit with 16 MB of RAM, the 256 GB SSD not so much nor does 8 MB of RAM present a hindrance.

Personally I would stay with the 256 GB SSD and maybe plan on an upgrade down the road, maybe to a 1 or 2 TB. Prices will come down and the upgrade process is very easy.

I assume you have taken advantage of all of Dell's deals. Check "Coupons" at the top right of the toolbar.

$200 cheaper than what? What is "16GB +512G RAM/Drive"?

I have the XPS 13 with i5 and 256GB SSD. I'm finding it is entirely satisfactory for me for use on the road.
