My wife bought me mine for my last birthday. Someone at B&H suggested the Tamron SP 70-200mm f/2.8 Di VC USD to her, which was a bit more money of course, and she was going to surprise with with it. I discovered her intent, and indicated my desire for the much smaller/lighter f/4 IS, which other than a stop of light gives up relatively little in the IQ department. I know that had I opted for a bigger and heavier f/2.8, regardless of which one, I would end up using it far less. Mark
