Canon 70-200L IS F4 vs. F2.8

One last thing: it's not just the weight. There is also a huge (!) size difference between the f/4 and f/2.8 versions.

I had the Sigma OS. It didn't get used much because of the size/weight. I sold it and bought a Canon f/4L IS. It spends a lot more time on my camera than the 2.8 lens did.

Yep. My wife bought me mine for my last birthday. Someone at B&H suggested the Tamron SP 70-200mm f/2.8 Di VC USD to her, which was a bit more money of course, and she was going to surprise with with it. I discovered her intent, and indicated my desire for the much smaller/lighter f/4 IS, which other than a stop of light gives up relatively little in the IQ department. I know that had I opted for a bigger and heavier f/2.8, regardless of which one, I would end up using it far less.
