I've been searching for a perfect camera bag for ages...
Currently using a backpack which I find it so hard to switch lenses and bodies. Sometimes I even need to put my gears on the floor to switch them around!

I have 2 camera bodies and about 5 lenses I need to carry around to the job normally, occasionally a flashgun. Any sugguestions on what I should use? Bag? Shoosac? Camera system? Lens bags?

Open for new ideas!

First of all, good luck with your search. Finding the perfect camera bag is like finding the Holy Grail. You could try using a large shoulder bag like a Domke F-1x or Billingham 555. I find these much easier to work out of while carrying than a backpack.

Lowepro Flipside bags also allow you access to all of your gear without setting the bag down, but I find them a little bit awkward personally. Something like the Peak Design Everyday Backpack or Lowepro Protactic bags could also work for you. They offer a fair amount of customization and side access. I find side access bags a little more difficult to work out of than shoulder bags, but they're a nice compromise of carrying comfort and gear access.

I doubt it would be perfect but you can take a look at the Thinktank Retrospective 50. You can add pouches to the outside to expand it. I have the 30 and I use it for 2 bodies an extra lens or 2 and I use pouches on the sides for flashes. Great bag but probably not great if you plan to carry it long distances. The 50 should work depending on the bodies/lenses you plan to use.

I own more camera bags than I can remember. There's no such a thing as "perfect bag." Instead of looking for something that isn't there, my suggestion to you is to focus more of your search on "situational" bag, i.e., a bag for nature shooting, a bag for weddings and such events, a bag for whatever you tend to shoot. I have a specific bag that I go to depending on my shooting needs.

It's not a bag, but maybe a Think Tank belt system could work for you. You could actually go with one of their Speed Convertible bags and supplement with belt pouches.
just a thought.

Thanks for advice guys! I've recently bought a waist belt for festivals. I'll see if that works :)

I like waist belts. There's a pic of one of them here: https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?p=246480

Also in that link is some info on the camera bag I designed for my Nikons. Looks like PBucket lost the images. I'll see if I can find them.

Finding the perfect bag is tough as somebody mentioned above and they are all a compromise to some extent. Occasionally the nature of my work would change, necessitating a new bag, however the only ones I have really liked and trusted in all conditions have been Tenba. They've never let me down in more than 20 years of regular use. Currently using a medium sized shootout backpack.

I use a large Lowepro fipside to get the gear to the site but then I work from a belt - specifically a $5 tool belt from Lowe's - with Zing pouches. Beats the bag by far. Several on this thread have mentioned belts. Take a good look at them as well as belts with suspenders for a bit more comfort. My suspenders also came from Lowe's - $10.
