Today I got a text message telling me to call a phone number to take care of an urgent matter with my Santander debit card. I called the number and an automated voice suggested that I should enter my social security number for quicker service. Funny thing is, I don't even have a Santander debit card.

All I want is just a little more than I'll ever have.

Yea I get emails relating to all the accounts I have with various banks that I don't recall every set up accounts with. Maybe these accounts were set up on my behalf by all the lottery companies I won money from without ever entering their lotteries. :)

Alas now you will no doubt be inundated with such texts and calls, as your number is now labled as 'live'

Thats why this very practice is known as phishing, and you 'took the bait'

Matters not that you took it no further, just the very fact that you called back is proof that your phone number exists and is real

I did call back, but from my office number, rather than my cell phone.
