Leica d-lux (typ 109) v Fuji X100

Hi,

Interested in your thoughts about these two :-
I have an original X100 which I love - focus could be quicker but the images are consistently nice. I've been offered a new Leica d-lux at a decent price so my dilemma is whether to sell the Fuji and get the Leica?

The Fuji is nearly 6 years old now, but a slightly larger sensor. Fixed length as oppose to the zoom on the Leica, etc. Any thoughts..?

Leica d-lux type 109 = Panasonic lx100.

The 109 is just another Panasonic compact camera that they put the red badge on and uped the price several hundred dollars for that red badge. They did it with a few of the Panasonic compact cameras.

That said the lx100 is a neat little compact camera with a m43 sensor, though the camera doesn't use the full sensor. I personally wouldn't switch from an x-100 for an lx100 unless I absolutely needed the zoom range. I definitely would not pay more for the "Leica" version over the Panasonic since internally that are exactly the same.

Search for reviews on the Panasonic lx100 and see if it's a good switch for you. Last I checked you could even pick up a used lx100 for a good price. He'll see how much the lx100 is going for to see if that "good price" you found on the d-lux type 109 is actually good.

Leica comes as made in Japan with three years warranty and Lightroom. If buying new, it might make sense. But. I was reading Leica forum today and Leica USA is refusing to repair typ 109. http://www.l-camera-forum.com …d-lux-cannot-be-repaired/
Panasonic Lumix LX100 might be better choice due to this. Only JPEG1 rendering is different from typ 109, RAW is the same.
I have old 8MP Lumix with fast Leica lens it is very good camera for 40$ I paid for it new at the clearance outlet.
