I just recently (August) got an XPS 8900, I got the 16 GB RAM 256 GB SSD/2TB HDD version with the GTX960/2GB GPU. I have paired it with the Dell 27" 5K monitor, you need a GPU with dual DP 1.2 ports to run the 5K at 60 Hz, so IIRC that excludes the 730m GPU for that monitor. Would be great with any of the 4K monitors though. I have been more than happy with the performance in LR/PS, I don't think that reducing to 8 GB would be a big issue with either of those programs. I would probably suggest installing an SSD for the OS/Programs though.

That's a very good deal. The case is nice and has room for upgrades.

If some one wanted a more powerful pc this would be a good starting point.

MB can support up to 32 GB of ram, only one video card.
460W p.s. so any serious upgrading may require a higher wattage p.s.

Still, for many people this XPS 8900 offers mucho bang-for-the-buck.

I threw the link out there because as Perfectly Frank says, this is a good starting point. One has to remember that on this forum we have people that don't spend their life crunching images and a quality PC is all they need. The machine I linked to is not a "base" machine, it is well configured, especially when one considers the price.

As to Lenova and HP being better, that is at best a debatable subject.

Right on, and let me add...

As it is, this pc is all that many people need, and has a great price. A great pc right out of the box.

The computer geek in me would want to add an SSD and a bit more memory, although it's not essential.

John, thanks for sharing the link.
