The streaked horned lark (Eremophila alpestris strigata) is a subspecies of the horned lark that is endemic to the Pacific Northwest. It prefers sparsely vegetated open habitat and has suffered greatly due to habitat loss. It is believed that only about 800-1000 individuals are present today and it has been classified as a Threatened Species in 2013.
Broughton Beach in Portland is one of the places to reliably see this bird. Here are a couple of shots, taken with the 7D2 and the 500/4 II. Thanks for looking!
