I still don't know what I am doing yet, but I found a lightly used Rokinon for $250. So I took some test shots on the first clear night I could get. I figure for that price, why not? Even if I don't use it much for astral, its a decent wide angle landscape/low light lens.

These are some results. As per my sig, critique is welcome.

The moon was out that night, but I decided to just go with it, being winter in Alberta, there aren't many clear nights available.

110 x 30 second exposures.

An obligatory Milky way shot. Needs some tweaking, but it's not too bad?

The big dipper, low on the horizon.

The moon finally went below the horizon, slightly. It worked out kind of surreal.
