I have one observation other than the wall thing already mentioned, which I think could be fixed in post processing by brightening it a little. It's clear the the mom or dad was off camera trying to elicit a response. It worked great. The child is engaged and bright-eyed. But as a photographer, you want the subject to be looking at you. Encourage the "assistant" to stand directly behind you and peep over your head. That way, the subject's eyes will be looking closer to where you want. The most engaging image in my opinion is the one where she's not smiling. Joe

Comments on the ear piercing or lack thereof are irrelevant. Watch the tendency to "shoot up the nose" which will happen if the baby lies or slides down too much. That third shot is the winner for me. A simple, wide eyed innocent, close up with some catchlights, even if they (the catchlights) may not be perfectly placed or sized. They give "life" to the eyes. love it. Sue Cassidy
