Just wondering if anyone can help with this.

When I send multiple pictures in a single Email to a particular person, the pictures received don't display like they were sent.
I resize the pictures usually to medium size before sending them.

When I send them, they are sent with one picture on top of the other with some space between each picture.
But, when the person receives them, there is no space between each picture and sometimes depending on how many pictures sent, they aren't all one on top of the other. Some of the pictures will be off to the side.

If I send the pictures to myself, they appear the way they were sent.

If this makes any difference, I'm sending from a Windows desktop and the person receiving them is using an old 13" MacBook .

We both use the same ISP but we currently use different mail clients.
The receiver is using the ISP's own mail client as far as I know.

Are there some settings in the other person's mail client program that could be changed?

I tried Googling this and couldn't find what I was looking for.
All the searches seemed to revolve around picture resizing.

There's so many factors that could be contributing to the problem, possibly multiple ones compounding the problem.

Could you convince them to log into their email using a browser? Email clients can be all over the place, specially when it comes to formatting (browsers aren't much better but at least they are fairly standardized).

I'm guessing your monitor is a different resolution to theirs. You might have to use smaller images to maintain formatting.

Is email the only solution? You could put them in a private folder on flickr with a password and send them the password or host them on a website/google drive/other cloud storage and let those websites dictate the formatting.

By the sound of it you are "including" the images in your emails, so they show up embedded in the text and therefore will display differently depending on how your email fits on the recipient's screen whether it is a phone, an IPad, laptop or desktop.

How about "attaching" the images instead, so the recipient can choose to see them in whatever app he/she uses for that?

I did try using the Dropbox link option recently but the person had a bit of an issue with that.
They eventually were able to see the pictures in the link.
The issue wasn't with the link but with the person using it for the first time.
They don't have a Dropbox account, that's why I used the link option.

I've just sent a batch of pictures to this person and I've resized them to small instead of medium.
I'm going to visit this person today so, I'll see how the pictures look on their laptop.
If that works, that's what I'll do from now on.
If it didn't, I might just sign them up to Dropbox if they want.

I just want to make things as easy as possible for this person receiving multiple pictures in a single Email.

The pictures are being sent as an attachment as far as I know.
This is how I send them.
I highlight all the pictures I'm going to send, then right click on one of the pictures.
That brings up a "send to " and that gives an option "mail recipient".
When I click on that, my Email program opens showing the selected pictures being sent as attachments.
They aren't showing as being embedded in the body of the mail before I send the mail.
But when the person receives the mail, all the pictures show in the body of the mail.
They don't have to click on any attachment to see the pictures.

What about setting up and Owncloud instance? Then you can use share links easily on your terms.

But back to the email:

Normally, a regular unformatted email will always show attachments separately.
To embed an image in an email, it must be an HTML type email and supported by the viewer.

Some programs will show attached images at the end of the image - others require you to download them.
Maybe that is the "Mime type external resource" discussed here: http://stackoverflow.com …hed-images-in-html-emails (external link)

And if you want to knock yourself out, here is another RFC... https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2110 (external link)

From experience I would always assume that images will show as attachments in an email.
HTML type emails can embed emails, but not all viewers support HTML emails (though most do).

Emails I sent to myself at work (We use Outlook) from an iPhone 6 came in as an attachment. From my iPhone 7, they are embedded in the body of the email. Now I just right click, save and then open it.
