I just bought the Canon, yes it is pricey, but what a great lens.

I don't know is it my illusion but my experience the Canon somehow can 'zoom' further than the Tamron. Or is it the Tamron I was testing is faulty.

The Tamron does have (supposedly) nasty focus breathing, ie, the focal length changes as the focus does (the focal length gets shorter as it focuses closer)
