Does the order of stacked extenders matter?

I have the Canon 300 f2.8 II and 1.4xIII, 2xIII.

If I use both extenders which one should mount to the camera body, and which to the lens.
Does it matter?

Thanks.

You'd be in luck if you had version II extenders but the 2xIII design (shorter than the II) does not allow for stacking with other Canon extenders. I have heard of people putting a 12mm extension tube between the two and you can use some 3rd part extenders behind it.

Ok, that good to know. I never stacked extenders before. Thanks for the update.

With the version II extenders I believe the 2x goes nearest the body
