Street Flash?

Does anyone carry a flash with them when shooting street photos? i carry one of my small sb200's from my macro flash setup in my hand when doing candids at a location say car show, or other large gathering, but havent really had the guts to flash someone on the street, and limit my nighttime street photos to areas where light is working in my favor. Just wondering what others do

Can't say i have ever needed a flash. If you feel insecure, you could always get the shot you want, keep the camera up to your face and take another shot after the person has moved. as if you were taking a shot of something behind them?

thanks for the reply. I dont really have a problem with making any shot, but sometimes when the light is strong behind the subject a fill would be nice. Im just not too sure how it would be received getting flashed i guess there would be one way to find out

I take a flash everywhere.

...I've never used it but Bruce gilden carried a flash. I like some of his photos and try to copy his approach - but it's a bit aggressive!!!

why not try it for yourself and see if you like the results!!!

I meant for him to try flash not Bruce's approach.

I've been doing the "up in your face" approach for about a year now, but the results are not as appealing as
Bruce's work.

haven't had any negative confrontations yet, it also helps to not use a dslr!!!

I guess it also depends on your appearance and personality. And the place you live, methinks.

I tend to carry around business cards too incase people ask me who i am / where i put the photos.

i see where a mirrorless or rangefinder (the latter a bit excessive my skill level) would be MUCH better for street photography. I have been looking at an xpro2 for a walk around, till my ability can justify a true rangefinder.
As for the flash i will probably stick to very crowded venues for that. I sure do like the results for as little practice i have put to it though.

I carry a few cards with me as well

I tend to shoot with my A6k for street, or occasionally a Lubitel2 120 TLR. The latter gets more interest then anger

if I seen you out on the street shooting with it, I would have interest as well

Even this place can cause discomposure on the part some, but not these.

yeah i got a lot of learning before i can justify that, my mind says yes, but my images say no
watching Bruce's videos is why I was intrested on how many folks use flash
