Fortunately, I live about 2 miles from Monoprice, so I'm always going in to their small store hooked onto the distribution center. Month ago I went in and looked at the aluminum tripod and the monopod. Pretty impressive and nice quality build. Knowing my cousin was looking for one I told him about the build, so a week ago he ordered the large carbon fiber once he saw it on sale. He received it a couple days ago, so I asked him about it he said, "Overall it's well built, solid, easy to use... legs are easy to fold out and it's reversible... leg locks seem secure". He hasn't taken it out yet, but he seems real happy. His only complaint is that it won't fit in the supplied carrying case with the head attached.

They have a 1 month return policy and a years warranty. They'll replace the entire tripod if something breaks. The only other complaints I've read about is the hook underneath, so that may be the only weak point. If I was starting over I wouldn't hesitate to try it out, especially at the price.. I'm considering one for myself after the holidays. I like the size collapsed compared to my Gitzo as it may work better for hiking.
