Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone could share the settings they use to photograph birds in flight. I'm new to wildlife photography, having just recently purchased the Tamron 150-600mm G2 lens. Previously, my only telephoto for a long time has been the 70-200L II.

I took my 5D4 + Tamron to a local wildlife reserve, and most of my BIF photos have been blurry. Especially when shooting @600mm.

The settings that I used are: 1/3200, ISO 2500, f/8. The lens focuses perfectly when on a tripod, or at closer FL's. However, when shooting @ anything longer than 400mm or in flight, everything is blurry.

I was also playing around with different AF Cases, but not sure which one would fit best.

Advises and recommendations are welcome!

I own the tamron but find that at extended ranges it is not real sharp best pictures are around the 400-500mm range and with tripod

Hello! I added the Tamron 150-600 G2 recently, and learned that it is a bit more demanding than my 70-200 to keep sharp.
When handholding I try and greatly up the shutter speed to around 1/2000 and that works really well. Arthur Morris talked about that in a video I saw and it works! Also, if you can brace against something to help reduce any lens motion, that helps too.

If you could post a shot or two that could help identify what is causing the issue. I'll help if I can - even though I am still learning a lot about BIF.

Have you been perusing the 5DIV Photo thread? And the Bird Portrait thread? They both have some great info on settings and techniques.
