I have been a faithful follower of LR since the LR4 days, all the way till 2015.7. Over the years, the app seems to have gotten worse and poorly optimized. Even with 1:1 previews and smart previews pre-generated, there are a lot of micro-lags here and there when browsing/chimping etc.

On the same system, using C1Pro, all of that disappeared - the performance is 100x faster than LR!

The 3 tools I miss most from LR is Upright tool, Vibrance and Dehaze though. Is there by any chance a workaround in C1Pro that I can use to get it back?

Or, is there any chance LR 2016/7 will be properly optimized by then?

Dehaze: use the Clarity tool. Increase the Clarity and Structure until you get the result that you like. Then under the Exposure tool, increase Contrast a little bit. A lot of time, increase Clarity is all that's needed to reduce haze.

Vibrance: use the Saturation tool under Color Editor, not the one under Exposure. Move it to the right to positive value is Vibrance.

Upright: use Keystone. It's under Composition tool tab.

Hope that helps.

And I suggest going easy with the Structure values, especially if you have lots of high frequency areas in your photo. Usually, values of ~3 are enough –any higher and you'll get oversharpening.

1. Clarity and Structure gives very artificial results compared to Dehaze. If used lightly, you can't really tell the difference. In addition, it does not add micro-contrast, unlike Dehaze which can have a pop effect even with subtle +10 additions.

2. Vibrance - thanks! didn't know there's a difference.

3. Keystone - there's no auto upright mode right?

Never seen or used Dehaze. I stopped using LR at version 3.x. I don't see anything artificial with Clarity in C1P. Also note that there are four kinds of Clarity, one of which increases saturation (Punch). I normally use Natural, which gives, er, natural results. I hardly ever touch the Structure slider.

Maybe you'd be willing to put a side by side comparison so that we can see the differences between the four kinds of Clarity in C1P and LR's Dehaze?

PS: Punch does definitely look the most artificial of them all.
