I think I'm convinced about the 5D4, though the price here in Canada is STEEEEP! $4500 but I thought I saw it for $4200 at one point. Has anybody seen any good sales on it?

Nope, nada. I have seen some second hand (almost new) bodies of A7RII go for around $3200. That is very tempting indeed.

The A7RII can be purchased today brand new for $3220 Canadian dollars. Sony has discounted the selling price of $3999 by $300 and is also currently running a Trade-in programme tha provides an additional $480 off.

Yes, I agree. I can't seem to find a "one camera is best" option. The 1DX MkII almost would be that, but the price is nuts! Almost 2x what I paid for my 1D MkIII brand new when it came out.

Coming from nothing but 1D bodies myself, I am in love with the 5D4. Canon have been rolling out new features step by step in bodies like 5D2, 7D, 1Dx, 5D3, 7D2,. and now the 5D4 has all of it rolled in,. with the best AF system to date (along with 1Dx2)

You'll save THOUSANDS keeping your canon glass, and the interface though different from 1D3 is still an evolution of that familiar set up. I actually prefer the 5D4s size now,. but that's just me. My 1D4 is keeping dust off of a particular area of shelf space.

I have been using the A7r2 since November of 2015, and I absolutely love it! i shoot mostly weddings, and do a lot of video work
and the Sony cameras (A6500) have been fabulous. It was rather costly to switch over, as I have now mostly all native lenses,
but my keeper rate is MUCH higher, and being able to AF in manual with focus peaking is a life saver. The size and weight savings have
been great as well. I am not shooting the G master line of lenses, but buying on the used market will save you some money.

I would definitely be getting the A7RII I think if I didn't shoot the way I do for these shows. I don't think the A7 will work in a bam bam bam bam bam shooting style where I need to get about 10,000 photos over 12 hours. Mostly it's the battery issue I worry about, and that buffer. God I wish the A7RIII would be released!

Not missing the 1D body, CDS? I used to hear "once you go 1D you never go back". I supposed lots has changed since I got my 1D3 in ... OH just checked! Exactly 10 years ago!

CDS is the DSLR Terminator--1D, 5D, it just don't matter!

Well, I pulled the HUUUGE trigger. This is the most money I've ever spent on an item... inlcuding my spec'd out 27" Retina iMac and my 1D MkIII when it was released. ACK.

Looking for good 2nd party batteries, and maybe a dual charger.

Also before I use the Canon strap, was looking at something as an alternative. Any recommendations? I'm kind of sick of using straps and a normal hand strap wont work as I change position too often from landscape to portrait when I shoot.

Get the Wasabi batteries ( from Amazon.) A pair comes with a charger.

I don't think they make a dual charger for LP-E6, (they do for some other batteries) but I prefer to get the one they bundle with a pair of batteries "practically free" as it is so portable, I always have one right ion the camera bag.

I wish, CyberDyneSystems... just the camera ((on sale plus 13% taxes and 2 year extended warranty).
Love it so far, I shot a bb show this weekend, used my 1D3 as the main camera, took 6000 photos with 50% battery left (lots of chimping over 12 hrs) with the 70-200/2.8 IS (IS was on entire 12 hours) on the original battery shooting Raw on my new Lexar 128GB 1066x CF card! Finally getting to shoot a show in Raw was so nice, and battery performance on that 10 year old 1D3 still astounds me!

I relegated the 5D4 to backup and wide angle (24-70/2.8L original) and it performed nicely.

Surprisingly, I tended to like the colours out of the 1D3 over the 5D4, and the noise (shooting at ISO1600) was similar on both. Got about 250 shots on the 5D4 with 75% battery left, so not great compared to the 1D3, I will have to get the grip and many more batteries if I want it to be the #1 camera some day. I think about it and I probably got the 1DX2 for not much more than the 5D4/grip and extra batteries.

I will say though, when shooting in lighting other than the stage photos for bodybuilding, the 5D4's low light performance (ie noise) is stellar! ISO 10000 has barely any grain at all, it's quite shocking! The AF system is fantastic. I still don't think the camera is worth $5k especially without a grip or lens, but it is an amazing camera.

I think it may out resolve my 24-70/2.8L by a long margin as I don't notice a huge detail difference with the 30MP - 5D4 vs the 10MP - 1D3.
