Will the color checker passport work with the Canon DPP software or does it work with any software when wanting to use a profile? Any users out there with any input with using this product?

It's used with Adobe Camera RAW, so Lightroom, Photoshop, and Elements.
Not DPP

The profiles can be converted and used with other programs, but it is not a simple process. Not sure about DPP specifically.

I do use Lightroom 4 and am able to convert my7D mark ii raw with the Adobe converter however my 5D iv raw is a problem and for now is forcing me to learn my way around DPP. So the color checker I was thinking of getting would only be currently effective with one of my two bodies and I don't want CC at this time.

I use the Passport without the software and find it to be an effective tool in Capture One, or for that matter in any RAW converter.

I mainly use the grey patches to set appropriate brightness levels across the full range of the exposure, but having the color patches to move certain colors around is helpful too.

Have you tried updating the DNG converter? I would have thought that the 5DIV would have been out long enough by now for it to have been included. Adobe have just done an update of LR/ACR/PS in the last week, so I would have though the DNG converter would have been done too.

The 5D mkIV is supported in adobe dng now.

The cc passport is a tool for color reference. It can be used in any application that supports DCP or ICC profiling.

If you want it for camera calibration it is primarily intended for LR, Photoshop and Elements.

More than anything I like the contrast of the custom profiles, not always, but most times.

I am leaning more towards in camera custom white balance but saw the X-rite for a good price.

You can certainly use the ColorChecker Passport to set a custom white balance in camera. I highly recommend it.

Be sure and get a descent WB target, even then I usually adjust from there.

I'm sure you can but is it worth the cost over just a cheap white card if your only using it for in camera white balance?
