As to your blue screen, this is not likely a virus. I would initially run the utility within Win 7 to check and repair the drive.
1. Right click on My Computer or Computer
2. At the next ascreen float your cursor over your hard drive letter (likely C) then right click.
3. Scroll down to Properties.
4. Click the Tools tab and select Check Now. Follow prompts to allow the process to begin. Ultimately you will be asked about restarting the computer to start the process so reboot.[/QUOTE wrote:

Just tried it and it said no problems found.
I'm going to leave things be for a couple of days and see how the machine acts.
I'm beginning to wonder if it's not something in a recent Windows update that may be the cause of the problem.
Since I did the system restore to a date last Month, the Windows update window is no longer showing the Windows 10 install I cancelled many Months ago.
