What a brain tease getting the new Cactus V6 mk2 triggers to work with my X-T10.

The mk2 version requires a totally different way in navigating through the menu's compared to the original V6.

I only did preliminary tests in home but I had to even downgrade my firmware to an older version in the Cactus RF60 flash units so that i can select "hss" mode in specific zones (A, B, C etc) The latest firmware update prevented me to select HSS as I depressed the "hss" button. Finally I discovered by selectively reverting back to older firmware I can do exactly what I want to do.

I'll have to say it was nice to get no banding at 1/4000 shutter speed in HSS mode using my cactus flash units. These are the flash units I use at receptions with great results with my Canon gear. Now I'll try to implement more remote flash with my fuji gear.

Today I couldn't pull the trigger on the $599CDN sticker price of the EF-X500 fuji HSS flash. I decided to experiment and use my cactus flash units I currently have by picking up the new cactus triggers.

More fun with my fuji ;)

The lack of a reasonably price HSS solution has had me hanging on to my canon gear with the yongnuo flashes and trigger.

I just recently heard about the cactus v6 II allowing HSS with Fuji. Unfortunately seems hss still won't work with the X-e2 (or so the info on B&H says). But with an X-t2 in my future I'm still interested in hearing more on the cactus triggers and how well they work with fuji and different flashes.

Can't wait to hear more!

Just to confirm the Cactus V6ii does NOT recognize the camera. I just tested it with my X-E2 with the latest firmware. When you turn the trigger on and 1/2 press the camera's shutter button the trigger should detect the camera. The Cactus trigger mounted on the X-E2 DOES NOT detect the camera and the letter "F" does not go inside the symbol that indicates "communication".

Also please note the locking mechanism on the Cactus trigger fully blocks the X-E2 dial.

So far I've only tested the Cactus triggers with my Cactus RF60. The reason I only want to use the RF60 is because of cost. If a person accidentally trips over a light stand and destroys the cactus flash it's less painful than a $600 CDN Canon 600 EX-RT I own.

The reason I use cactus triggers with my Canon FF is I have ETTL capable canon flash on top of my cactus trigger (TTL pass through) that sits on the camera bodies hotshoe. The tactile buttons on the trigger makes adjusting remote flash intuitive/second nature.

If you shooting indoors why care for HSS? I would have bunch of manual flashes where I can control the power from my Tx. That should be plenty IMHO, isn't it?

I totally agree!!!

HSS for me is reserved for outdoors :)

Indoors I'm using manual remote flash.

I do hope Godox makes a HSS capable trigger for Fuji. Their X1 for Canon/Nikon/Sony is quite nice.

On a side note, acquiring a used Xt-1 has meant I have use for the old 433mhz single pin triggers for my Godox speedlites and AD360s

In full manual, with power easily set from the shoe mount transmitter, I can use it all with the Fuji at no extra cost to me :)

If Godox were to make an HSS enabled transmitter, better XT32 than X1, the XT32 is MUCH better for controlling power levels in manual, where as the X1's forte is ETTL.

I haven't used X32 but looking at it, it seems just like X1. Buttons and one wheel. So far in my view, Pocket Wizard AC3 was the best implementation. 3 individual switches to adjust OFF, Manual, Auto and then 3 little wheels to change power settings. I know it will require bigger Tx for 5 groups but 3 is plenty. Pushing buttons and then moving the wheel is slow. I am saying this after doing 4-5 shoots with X1. And depending on how one presses the same buttons, different things happen. Feature creep is nice but

X1 menu and control is cumbersome, I agree. It does what it needs to do, but it doesn't make it easy.
I like that it does everything, I really am not a huge fan of the learning curve and size of everything. (teeny tiny little buttons and dial)
It's one of those things you can feel you have down pat, but if you don;t use it for a month or so, next time you pick it up your almost starting over. "Now how did I get ______ to work last time?"

My mention of the XT32 was because with it's larger easier to read display, and more dedicated buttons, it is a lot better and faster to use. So much so, that despite the fact that I started in the Godox 2.4Ghz system with an X1, I ONLY use the X1 if I need ETTL (read almost never)
In fact I often just use the X1 to re-familiarize myself with it!

The XT32 does everything else the X1 does (other than ETTL) , just a lot easier. It's one of those "don't need a manual" products, which is a considerable difference as compared to the X1.

I surmise that the PW control, all those additional wheels and switches is a part of the significant price difference.

Latest update from Adorama is that the Fuji X1 trigger will be available by the end of the year.
It is planned for it to support the XGF as well as the XT2 and other Fujifilm cameras.
