I'll let Arutemu speak for himself, but I thought he was making a general comment about what seems to be an increasing preoccupation with sharpness, not one directed specifically at this tread or anyone here.

What would be the point of bringing it up in a thread about people experiencing softness with the 40. It's completely out of context to what the thread is discussing. Flickr

He was responding to my earlier post (#115 which he cited at the top of his comment) where I talked about sharpness of paintings relative to photographic sharpness. My flickr

Dec 16, 2016 17:21 | #125 Received my 24mm pancake; liking it so much, I will probably try the 40mm again in the near future. will probably sell both the 50 & 85mm f/1.8 and have the perfect (for me) kit. Robin

So I guess your seeing an obvious difference compared to the 40. I think I'm gonna pick up a 24 as well. Did u get a lens hood as well. Flickr

Yes, for sure a difference. It is nice and crisp, with great color. No lens hood yet; but I might pick one up. I usually just go third party. Robin

Most times I didn't even need to sharpen in post processing. Canon R5 - Canon RF24-105L F4, Canon 40mm, Canon 70-200L F4 (non-IS), Canon 100-400ii, 1.4xiii

I am hoping this copy is a keeper! Last one was soft, but after seeing 200 pages of great images, I am confident a good copy is the norm. I love the 24mm pancake so much, I really want it for my 6D as well. Robin

Mostly because its price, but also its utility. The 6D and 40mm has become my point and shoot or second camera when I dont want to carry all my gear. 6D, 50mm Art

The 6D and 40mm has become my point and shoot or second camera when I dont want to carry all my gear. I have my main setup of 6d with 35/85mm. Then went through a few secondary setups to cut down in size, Rx100, A6000, Fuji XE1. I realized the 6D with 40mm is the same size as any of the other setups and is much better. Glad to hear you like it that much - hoping it works out for me. But I can see how the 6d and 40mm could be a favorite carry around. As much as I like the T6i & 24mm, I love the output from the 6d and prefer it whenever I can. Robin
