He's switching to Nikon, I would like to know his reasoning as well.

The D5 autofocus is a must-have. It's absolutely essential for action and sports photography, and the Canon 1D series is not up to par yet.

I think I'd rather have the 14 fps vs 12 from Nikon

I shoot Canon's
1DX II, Canon 7D Gripped, 5D3, 24-70L II, 70-200L 2.8 IS Mk I, 85 1.8, Pocket Wizard II triggers, assorted speedlites and modifiers, 580EX, 580EXII, YN560's (6 or so) 50 1.4, t/c 1.4 MkII

First of all GLWS :-) secondly I would really try one out if possible first. Nikon has their issues too and If you think the D5 is going to be better for sports, You are going to be heavily disappointed. Judging by multiple reviews, The Nikon has a slight edge with 3D tracking and High ISO but when are you ever going to use 3D Tracking for sports? Almost all sport photographers use 1 AF point or AF expand. Not trying to hijack your thread here but just want you to research before pulling the plug.

You guys make a good point. I am going to stick with this camera. The 14 FPS is really a good promise on the 1DX2. It's not worth the time and energy to switch over to a new brand and learn their ways.

I've rented the D5. Its one-shot focus on single shot is 100% spot on. It's everything you'd expect from a camera. However, the time to switch will come eventually. Right now, Canon is holding their ground strong.
