Anyone have any input on their products? From what I have read most of the cheaper reflectors are of similiar quality. Figured this would be good. I did hear that Wetcott warrinties there frame (the outrside wire?) for life but on their website it seems to be on the Illuminator series, unless Im missing something.

I was looking at a 40" round and the 52" square Westcott kits but read that it would be to small to do full body shots. I am hoping to do 1 or 2 people. I also dont need all the colors. I mainly want a diffuser and a white/silver, but I want it to be portable so the foamboard option isnt feasible.

I have a couple of Neewer and other reflectors. They all seem to hold up just fine. I use them outdoors.

The cost is cheap enough to not care about warranty. You'll spend more to ship back and forth to get the warranty, so don't buy something based on that at this price.

Very best,

For me I wouldn't buy anything without a nice metal frame. Those would cost in $300-$400 range, there is Chimera, Westcott, Lasolite, Mathews.

Don't worry about warranties on the "metal frames". The fabric will give out long before the wire does. Of all the reflectors I've had I only had one fail and that was because the crimping clip loosened and the end of the wire ended up poking through the fabric.

The one thing I've noticed with just about every reflector I've ever had/seen is that the silver/gold tends to wear along all the fold lines. Since these are designed to collapse, they get a lot of wear. I don't consider these long term investments. If I get three to five years out of one I am happy. They are inexpensive enough. Obviously the better made ones will last longer, just not forever.

After a while even the white diffuser ends up getting dirty, and it's not like you can toss it into a washer. Cleaning these can be a chore. Remember that these products get tossed around, dropped on the ground, handled by assistants who likely don't care to wash their hands prior to handling, etc. My advice, don't waste good money on top line diffusers as you'll be going through several of them over the years. Depending on need, don't just get bottom line Chinese bargains either as you do get what you pay for. Mid level diffusers are probably your best choice.

Would there be a noticeable benefit to the 59x79 over the 40x60 version?

Never tried Neewer but had the Fotodiox one for years and it held up really good, but it's also almost double the price for a slightly smaller size
Sadly I sold it last year and now I need another, if you do end up getting that one let us know what you think :)

I've had one for years. It was cheap and it works. Why pay more? For the price you can buy a ton of them to equal the price of the more expensive ones.
