RIP John Glenn

He wasn't the first to go around the earth, but he was the first American to do it. I remember the space race growing up and watching all the launches on black and white TV. John Glenn was a class individual and a true hero.

I was sorry to see that. I remember when he was a young guy, but he made it to 95, so he had a good run.

RIP John Glenn a brave trail blazer. 95 is a good innings.

Yes, an American hero. To compete for a job where you're strapped into a tiny capsule, propelled into space by a huge rocket, and trusting the calculations of other people that gravity would pull you back to earth to land in a specific safe area....incredible bravery and faith in his fellow man!

As a kid I remember John Glenn and later the Apollo program. The missions got extended coverage on TV and our family spent hours watching it.
Those were exciting times.

As a side note, Katherine Johnson, profiled in the movie Hidden Figures, was a NASA mathematician whose group calculated
the flight path for John Glenn. She talks about him in this video. Her story is fascinating in its own right.

I actually met John Glenn at the Centennial of Flight in Dayton Ohio, he was extremely nice and a true American hero. RIP John Glenn.
