Shoppers:

I have this same setup. My heaviest gear is 1DIV & 100-400L. This tripod and ball-head handles them just fine. One thing the ad (see link) does not show is that the vertical post can be inserted from the bottom. This allows me (you?) to have a tripod-mounted camera & lens actually touching the ground/floor. This thing is versatile, sturdy, and inexpensive. In case you are wondering, the ball-head is removable. You can use it elsewhere, or mount a different head on these legs. I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a better alternative for the same or less money.

OP, GLWS.

I have to agree with above poster, I love my Vanguard exact same model, and same ball head too. It works very well, also has a hook to add weight if necessary to the bottom of the rig, and as stated it works as a macro tripod with head inserted upside down. Good luck with sale. If I'm not mistaken this rig is supposed to handle 15+ LBS.

I'm not trying to cause issues, but the Vanguard website shows the SBH head as a QS-39 plate, not arca swiss. They are incompatible as I also have a vanguard ball head with the QS-39 plate system. The arca swiss setup is available on the BBH ball heads at a significantly higher price point.

I feel OK replying, since I own the same system. OP, let me know if you feel I'm stepping on your thread.

Mike, it would be helpful if you mentioned why this matters. I use this tripod, with whatever system it came with, and have no problems. What does 'arca-swiss' mean, and why does it matter. BTW, I am completely happy with this system; it has never let me down.

EDIT: Just checked. Mine is QS-39, too. Works just fine for me.

I don't mind at all. I thought arca swiss is the new sliding plate/tightning knob but I could be wrong. I'm not too sure. But regardless please review the website for more accurate info as to exactly what type of mounting plate this has, which is the sliding with the lock button + tightning knob, which I thought was the now popular "arca swiss" style since they were the first to come up with it.

The QS-39 system is fine if you only use the small QS-39 feet on the bottom of the camera or lens. However if you have a bracket for your camera that is Arca Swiss, it will not fasten into the QS-39 system. Basically, since the clamps are different widths the QS-39 won't close down far enough on the Arca plates and the Arca clamps won't open wide enough for the QS-39 plates. When I use my ball head for anything I need to put the Vanguard plate on the camera or lens foot and when I use my gimbal head, I bolt on the Arca plate. Just my experience, but they do have different width measurements.
