I searched POTN for GUMO images and found 2 mentions of this National Park... That's it! It is most isolated and least visited National Park in the US for good reason. It's brutal and rugged and, whereas Big Bend offers some comforts, Guadalupe Mountains offers itself. Full stop. No food, no water, nearest gas 50 miles.

The park is a fossilized reef. So when you're standing on Hunter Peak, for example, you look down at your feet and see the fossilized remains of sea life. As I understand it, this entire area, with the highest peak at 8751 ft, was under water!

Otherwise, this trip was a life list goal for me to get back to backpacking after 20+ years away from it. Hope you enjoy the images. The first and last are El Capitan, #1from above and #8 from - of all places - the rest stop overlook.
