Would you use a tripod for a Military Holiday Ball's staged portriats?

It will be my first gig of this type. Very fancy event. I'm thinking of offering two backdrops and selling prints. Thank you for your input.

Nope, if you use a tripod they may as well have got a photo booth in.

You're a photographer, capture more than just point-n-shoot images from the same perspective.

I never use tripods, not even during portraits because I do like to get different angles and perspectives, although I was thinking that for this event, since it is very formal I could benefit by providing them with uniform photos since they will be selecting them from a gallery online, but I'm sure I can do just as good without a tripod. They won't all be identical but close enough.
