...and what's the price point where it's worth it just to have it for an extra/spare/loaner/teaching/second-shooter/crop camera? You know it's a good, solid camera in pristine condition and it's paid for... What type of accessories will the proceeds buy for your new camera?

Just thinking (I think)...

That's something I've definitely thought about, under $200 and it's definitely not worth the sale, not sure how much more than that makes it worth it though.

Maybe sell off the S lenses. I think it has a grip?...if so, sell it off. That should get you close to the $200 mark from the $350 or so mark. Just a thought.

Best wishes,
Ed

Here's someone in my area who can't get $300 for the same kit minus the grip: http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/pho/5897249019.html (external link)

I sold the same setup with 2 extra batteries and bag for $350 to a friend at work last year. While I did use the $ to offset costs incurred for buying a 6D during that triple stacking coupon 'glitch' at canon refurb last year, can't help but miss that T2i. I managed some great shots with that camera.

You have to be careful in reading things and sometimes play lawyer. In this instance it is unlikely that "USA Warranty" means the warranty is from Canon and this is likely a "grey market" camera. Rather it is likely from Square Trade, the vendor for the extended warranty available at extra cost.

However, I personally have never had to use a Canon warranty so it may not be a consideration at all. Certainly, at least on the surface the vendor "appears" reliable.

True. My post reflecting 3 model years newer with lenses and some low buck extra's selling for the same price point. You could get a much better "D" series body and some crappy lenses for $500 as well on the used market.

First of all you yourself feel that its a raw deal by having to ask is it theft. Yes it is but to what degree I can't really say.

If the lenses are first issue its grand theft, version II regular theft and if there STM versions petty theft.

A nice example just sold on e-bay for $385.00 with STM lenses. If you have STM lenses to a friend $400.00 not STM down to $300.00.

Your other option as someone suggested put it on e-bay at $550.00 for thirty days when the thirty days have lapsed give it to your friend for the prices listed above.
