Will Yahoo's Billion accounts hacked, I'm guessing a major dent in Flickr user confidence?

Oh, boy. Some hackers got my name and e-mail address, and maybe even my home address. Amazon & Google have already sold them to the entire rest of the planet. As far as priorities go, this concerns me just a bit less than the fact that my toenails grow slower as I age.

Yes, that worries me some, but the slow growth doesn't matter as much to me as does the fact that they're beginning to look like desert junipers, kinda gnarled and twisted looking, ya know.

I already gave up on Yahoo and Flickr the last hack, been trying to get family off any dependency on Yahoo, that company has long been a joke.

Charlie, are you hosting any images other than on the forum? I started out years ago with my littlle point-n-shoot images on Photobucket but left it for Flickr. I like Flickr, but all jokes aside security is something we need to consider. Have you got another hosting site that you would recommend?

Thanks,
Ed

I think the bigger joke is having any expectation of privacy in a society where everyone lives their lives online.

.

I don't mine EVERYONE on the planet knowing my email address. Nor my home address, for that matter. Hence, I will continue to use Flickr and Yahoo, without any hesitation to do so.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

I've changed my password twice since either hack occurred; doesn't affect my willingness to use 'em.

All sites are vulnerable. Society has never been perfected. It can happen to anyone. For what I shoot, Flickr has been great! I no longer have to print and burn CD's. No more mailing expense, no disc, no envelopes, no need ing a bands address, no emails either. I simply shoot a concert and post. The band will see it through the Venue's Facebook page or I may give them my card, and they can look for it in a couple days. Most of the bands I shoot, have become at least FB contacts of mine. And they play the same Venue once a year. Flickr is perfect for my audience/needs.

Flickr is old and outdated, Yahoo's way of running it is shocking.

I like Flickr, I don't use it often enough though.

Yahoo Mail, on the other hand is absolute dog-egg. I spend half my life offshore with a crappy internet connection and I spend half of that time waiting for my emails to load. Most of the time I give up. The UI is so badly coded and full of useless crap and adverts I have to stop myself from throwing my monitor into the sea after waiting for it to load, only for it to tell me I should go to classic mode !

It's infuriating.

I certainly hope Flickr isn't ending! I actually like using it and host most of my images there so I wouldn't have a clue what to use if it shut down.

I've been a Flickr user for many years, but I rarely upload anymore. It has nothing to do with security. They have made so many changes over the last few years to revamp things and the site is still poorly organized and tedious to navigate. It seems to be more of a photo dumping site rather than a place to present unique or interesting images. I've started to use 500px more these days and I'm considering cancelling my Flickr membership.
