A Lonely Ride...

I like it -- it is a bit surreal. Without something else, the rider is a bit lonely... it might be nice to have a bit more interest in the photo -- the rider going by something or someone for example, could work. Thanks, Dennis

There has to be a way to bring the subject out of the darkness. He is the darkest thing in the image - it's almost a silhouette.

Nonetheless, the composition is excellent; the panning was very effective, and I won't quibble about the exposure, because artistic license says you can establish the brightness level in the image to suit your idea of the mood.

Bottom line is that for sports/action shot, I would like to see the subject stand out better.

What would you suggest as far as editing to bring out the subject? If you'd like, I can post the original tomorrow...the day was very overcast and gray, and I found that I liked the image that I posted with saturation at almost +30 more than I did the original.

I really don't know that there is "simple" or straightforward way. My comment was more rhetorical, as in "wouldn't it be nice, if....".

Perhaps a different approach, altogether, would work - like lightening the overall picture and then selectively burning in those hot spots in the sky so that they don't wash out completely. A top to bottom gradient would be a good place to begin.

Pity the main subject is not sharper and perhaps a little brighter. Nice composition though.
