I would bring you own as you never know if/what will be provided.

I guess is would depend on the venue. I have brought Gatorade and soft drinks in the web pocket outside of my bag to the sideline of the local university's games. I have never been stopped. But my planned comeback, if I was questioned about it, was going to be that I was diabetic and could need a quick supply of sugar if my blood glucose level got too low. I have never had to use it, though.

Never had an issue taking bottles of water in to games - as long as the bottle had the factory seal on as i went through security.

I would plan on taking your own water - we rarely got water at sporting events when i was working for the paper (except rugby, some cricket and V8 Supercars - they fed us too)

Never expect it but it's always nice to have.

With the exception of water in a bottle with a cap, it'll stay in the media room though, and even then I'm really careful about opening water on the edge of the court. You never want to be "that guy" that has the media timeout dragged along because something spilled, or worse yet get it on gear/uniform/mascot.

Especially for the August football games or baseball season I'll put a few bottles in the camera bag, and keep some with me in a spare lens holder on the field. The more I can do to keep somewhat comfortable the more I'm able to focus on the game.
