6D Mark II

I am happy with my 5D3. And I'd be happier with the 5D4. I shoot mostly dance, theater and club subjects (all moving in low light). The 5D3 does fine. Miles better than the focus points on the 6D, but that surprises no one.

Yeah, I suppose have more than one cross point for setting like that would be helpful. I bought a 1DIV because my 6D would lose focus with peripheral points, in Servo, when a ballplayer moved from sunshine into the shadows.

I had some other nitpicking issues with the 6D where it just seemed Canon made unnecessary omissions - just to set it apart from the 5D series without any real money savings: no headphone jack, 1/4000 max shutter, less flexibility naming files in camera, sync speed, while also leaving out the Rebel like articulating LCD.

But, it has a niche. And I have come to realize that the 6D is an excellent camera.

Easy, 5D3.

I did a long weekend trip for a family reunion at Thanksgiving. All social, no time planned for any "serious" photography. Still, I've always got a camera with me. So I took my Sony a6000. Lightweight, easy enough to use and all the manual control that I want in a camera. I also have a set of triggers that work on the Sony (and Canon flash!), so I'm all set.

Ugh. I couldn't stand it. The Sony was "almost" fast enough, but never quite so. Whether it was the slow lens(es) or the lag time in simply operating the camera, I really missed my 5. My mom (the house that we were at) had a Rebel T5i (which she doesn't use). I had bought her a few lenses which also don't get used. Finally, I had enough. Using the Rebel was great. It wasn't quite the 5D, but it was definitely close enough to enjoy the photography.

I'm still trying to fall in love with mirrorless. I like the size and weight (when I'm *not* taking pictures, and traveling through airports). I'm packing tonight to fly out to Chicago, and which camera am I taking? Yup, the 5D3.

You neglected the very large amount of money saved by omission of the PC socket, and the dedicated joystick.

rumor comes from Canon Watch, which also makes the Sony alpha rumors site which I frequent. They are good for news, horrible for predictions, pretty much never get it right.

even though SAR is a rumor site, almost always wrong, they have much more content than just rumors.

More should be like me, I still use a 300D, oh and a 40D, oldies but goodies from their time line.

I only believe what happens, as when I see the new release.

A FF mirrorless would be nice. Give me AF close to 5dmk3, Face/Eye detect like Sony, Flip screen with touch AF and I will be a happy camper. Me personally never liked 6d, good sensor (for canon) but that is pretty much it.

It's only Feb. 1st quarter of '17 is not even over yet. No talk by May, then maybe I'll believe you in it not being released this year. All signs have suggested it being in Spring.
