Good segment from this morning's "The Takeaway" on public radio.
Stephanie Keith discussing her amazing shots of the Standing Rock protests was especially riveting.

Dec 22, 2016 14:29 | #2 All the pictures felt really powerful, and I agree it has been really big year, a lot has happened, though it feels so much about of elections, and I believe this was not the only huge thing, though media has made it like that.

Agreed. I could have done without so many Trump shots, but I guess it is par for the course for an election year. It would have been nice to include some more stuff from abroad, maybe from Ukraine, etc. But the photos were amazing, I must say. Sam

Dec 23, 2016 18:29 | #4 I've been on the judging panel for news photo awards. The first time I thought it would be near impossible because so many good news shooters have so many tries at getting something exceptional. As it happened, I found that there is always something exceptional that stirs all judges. The honorable mentions were hard, but the winners in all categories demanded the honor they received. George

How many categories were there actually? I was listening to the interview and was positively impressed by the comments, how it was made. Nevertheless yes, the pictures are powerful and exceptional no doubt!
