Thanks for the review. Can you do some low light testing and see how the IS performs?

Here's the IS Test, Focus is on the Red Ornament at 15.5 feet. 1/13sec, f/5.6, ISO 800, 300mm Hand held SOOC except in AWB. This was my Third attempt as I was dealing with a bratty 8 year old who went into full melt down mode...............

Also want to add is f stops:

70mm= f/4

100mm= f/4.5

135mm= f/5.0

200mm= f/5.6

300mm= f/5.6

That's according to my 6D...............

A friend lended me this lens - I'm grateful but can anyone think of a way to balance it? I looked for a collar but didn't see one nor a way to attach one...

Edit: by 'balance' I mean when its hanging from a shoulder strap or Black Rapid shoulder sling.

I have had this lens for several years and find it small enough to balance on a 7D body quite easily. I don't think I would ever use a collar, for me personally.

My mistake - In use it feels quite comfortable - what I meant to say was that with longer lenses - I prefer to attach my Black Rapid type sling strap to the tripod collar mount. That is quite a descriptive pertinent detail I neglected to mention lol. I don't like how it hangs from my shoulder sling.

So, the lens does not accommodate a mount collar. I suspect I'm out of luck.

Ahh, I see. That makes sense. One of the reasons I have kept my EF 70-300 II is for a lighter rig on a T8i and also as a loaner lens for folks thinking of moving up from a kit lens and wanting to try something out that is a tier above the kit

I have a 7D with a grip and an L bracket. I use a Cotton Carrier and the mount for the Cotton Carrier is on the L bracket. The Cotton Carrier has a strap that goes over the camera and lens for added security.

I have also lately seen what I think is a new item, it’s called Athol or Atoll or something like that it’s used for various cameras and lenses that have no foot for a mount. I looked into that but decided to go with the L bracket.
Hope this helps!
Bill
