I own both of them. Both are cameras I have no intention of selling anytime soon. If I were going to have only one camera, it would be the 80D. Luckily, I don't have to make that choice.

All down to what you need/want from the camera!

They are both good cameras but with different strengths and weaknesses. Perhaps if we had more idea of your priorities/uses/lenses we may be able to help more.

It depends on what you're shooting really. I would go with the 80D just because I can't imagine only have one usable AF point and a slow burst rate. However I shot a lot of skateboarding, so good AF and high burst are helpful. I came from a T3i and I've been spoiled by the 7D's auto focus with 19 fully usable auto focus points. If I was doing strictly portraits, then I would go with the 6D. However in any other case I would stick with the 80D.

Yes, very well said. But it looks like the OP is no longer interested.

As said above: Still subjects and low light, 6D. Everything else, 80D.

For the price: I just bought a 1D4, which has a solid foot in both circles, although my main interest is sports shooting, where the 1D4 dominates 80D for the same cost. Much longer battery life, hyper-configurable autofocus, tremendously fast shooting performance, more durable/rugged chassis, and the list goes on and on.

The 80D does very well in low light. I was amazed with this one. No lights in a pretty dark room.

I was amazed at the improvement when I went from my 7D to my new 80D.

I use a 1DIV & 80D. The entire point of buying the 80D was sports/athletics. In my opinion, the AF performance of these cameras are very close. The 80D also has two zone modes the 1DIV lacks. The 1DIV wins frame rate; sometimes 7fps is enough, sometimes 10fps isn't enough. The 80D is better in low(er) light. Most certainly, build and battery life go to the 1DIV, but neither matters much to me. I don't shoot in crappy weather. A spare battery makes up for battery life. Strictly for AI-Servo shooting, I think the two cameras are very close.

My 6D rarely gets used in AI-Servo.

Interesting. Cool that you have a specific experience owning both at the same time. One thing I love about the 1D4 is that I can quickly change the AI Servo Tracking Sensitivity, and completely control obstruction behavior. I've shot soccer plays where ARs walked slowly right in front of me, and the shoes/hands/etc. of the subject remain crisply focused on the edge of the frame until the AR was out of the way. Then, with a quick setting change, I can have it pull different cyclists quickly out of a moving pack to get a bunch of riders individually, all at different focal distances. Do the AF zones on the 80D allow similar control?
