Received my order from Adoramapix today and it's mostly great. Everything is lovely except for something kind of major: two different color casts on two different prints of the same photo. They are the same paper, same mounting, same .jpg file that I uploaded; literally the only difference is the size (one 8x10, one 11x14). It's a black & white print and one is noticeably cool / cyan and one is noticeably warmer. I chose to NOT have them color correct my images and everything else came out exactly as I wanted except for this one 11x14 (coincidentally the only print of that size that I ordered).

Anyone else experienced this? Is the 11x14 perhaps printed on a different machine than the 8x10 prints and the printer is maybe off? I'm guessing whoever did the QC on this was asleep at the wheel because it's a super obvious color difference in person, people at work asked me why the same photo was two different colors.

My guess is that your guess is correct. I'd send both back and have the 11X14 reprinted to match the 8X10.

Poor quality control. Same image printed to different sizes should have exact same colours. Send back for sure.

You shouldn't have to send anything considering they are prints and not worth the postage. Try taking a photo of both side by side and email customer SVC.

This is what I would do too. I had an issue with a very small mark on the border of black and white print that I had made on traditional Ilford Black and White paper, with an oversized border. The print was 16"×12" with a nearly 2" border, and cost £25 with the postage. I took a picture of the mark with my phone and emailed it to the lab, I got an email back almost immediately apologizing and telling me that they had started the process of printing me a replacement the same day, which is the sort of service that is good to see. The mark wouldn't even show if you were to mat and frame the print, since it would be under the mat, and it was actually not even very obvious when you looked at the print, it took me examining the print very closely before I noticed it, I think had I been doing basic QC on the print I would very likely have missed it too. Colour casts on monochrome prints that have been made using a colour process can be very difficult to deal with, if the QC is being done on each individual line then it is quite possible that each print was within tolerance on an individual basis, and it is only placing them side by side that will show up the problems. It could even be down to something as simple as the colour balance of the light in the viewing area being a little off for one line over another. Were these C-Type prints using a chemical wet process or inkjet prints? Monochrome on inkjets can be even harder to get right.

This is exactly what I did... about 4 hours before posting here. Haven't heard ANYTHING back about the issue, at all. Just a confirmation saying that customer service received the email. :-/

4 hours is nothing, it is the day before Christmas Eve after all. My local printers aren't even open at the moment..

If they are open I'd imagine they are flooded with "Why isn't my Christmas print done?" requests. Hang in there :-)

Yeah, I wasn't so much concerned about the 4 hours as I am about the 2 days... it's too late anyway, I had to give them away as gifts.

Hi PaintedLotus

I apologize for this. Do you mind emailing me a picture of the issue at libby@adoramapix.com? If you don't have pictures of them, please email me directly anyway with the original order number.

I would like to investigate the issue further as well as take care of your concern. Thank you.
